Iran issues ominous ‘target’ warning to UK amid Middle East tensions

Mousavi warns Britain to be ‘very careful’

The Iranian ambassador in London, Seyed Ali Mousavi, has told the UK to be “very careful”.

He went on to warn what Iran’s response would be if the UK were to get further involved in the war.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said that the UK has permitted the US to use British bases for defensive strikes on Iranian facilities.

However, Starmer claimed the UK would not be taking part in any direct strikes.

Seyed Ali Mousavi told the BBC that he thinks “the British government has very, very good experience from Iraqi invasion and they know the illegality of this aggression.”

Mousavi went on to say that “there is no doubt that Iran is going to have their own right for self-defence” if the UK were to attack Iran directly.

“You know, the British government mentioned that they are not involved with this aggression. Okay, that’s good,” he added.

“Although that we expect the British government as one [of the] civilised nations to condemn this kind of aggression against anybody, including Iran.

“You know, we are trying to have very functional and very delicate and careful activities.”

When asked by Laura Kuenssberg about Iran’s response to strikes that have hit multiple countries and endangered civilians across the region, Mousavi said: “We are defending ourselves. This is very important. Who started this war? The American side and the Israeli regime.

“But they are using their military bases from the Persian Gulf countries.

“Okay, that would be a very important legitimate target for us. We do not want to go to attack anybody, no. We are very delicate.”

In a final warning to the UK, he said: “We are very careful regarding for our activities and as well as, we do expect for the other people, including the British government, to be very delicate, to be very careful for their own activities.”

Starmer said he stands by his decision not to join the initial US‑Israel strikes on Iran.

At a Downing Street news conference, he said the UK had ‘the strength to stand by our values and our principles no matter the pressure to do otherwise’.

The UK’s idea of a solution would be a ‘negotiated settlement with Iran where they give up their nuclear ambitions’.

However, US President Trump has in the meantime, accused Starmer of only deciding to get involved in the war after ‘they’ve already won’.

Taking to Truth Social, he wrote: “The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, may be the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East.

“That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer – But we will remember.”

“We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!” he added.
