A four-storey building has collapsed
A major UK train station has been closed indefinitely after a huge fire tore through a nearby building last night.
Dramatic videos and images from the scene showed the blaze tear through a vape shop located near to the station.
Emergency services were first alerted to the fire at the location near to Glasgow Central Station just before 4pm yesterday, with the inferno eventually consuming the four-storey building which has now partially collapsed.
The location, known as the Forsyth Building, is a B-listed building which was constructed in 1851.
Yesterday, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “More than 60 firefighters are currently working to tackle a large building fire on Union Street, Glasgow.
“We were alerted at 3.46pm to reports of a building fire on Union Street, Glasgow.
“At its height, nine fire appliances and specialist resources were mobilised to the area, where firefighters are currently working to extinguish a fire affecting the ground floor of a four-storey building.
“There are no reported casualties, and crews remain at the scene.”
The firefighting effort continued overnight, with dramatic images being released from the scene.

In the aftermath of the fire, the nearby Glasgow Central Station, Scotland’s busiest train station, remains closed.
Network Rail’s Glasgow Central account posted on X: “Glasgow Central station remains closed this morning following yesterday’s devastating fire in a shop on Union Street.
“Check with your train operator for the latest service info before leaving the house.
