He passed away the following day
A skier who was rescued on the Nevis Range in the Highlands has died in hospital.
He was injured on Tuesday after a fall on Aonach Mor, near Fort William.
According to Police Scotland, the skier died the following day. He has not been named by the authorities.
“There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal”, a spokesperson of Police Scotland said.
The skier was among six people who were rescued in four separate incidents.
They all occurred on and around Ben Nevis, and two of the incidents occurred during avalanches.
Starting on Tuesday evening and finishing early on Wednesday, three of the rescues happened simultaneously, in challenging weather and deep snow.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, who helped a walker that was unable to descend Ben Nevis, said that Tuesday had started as a “beautiful day”, but the area was hit in the evening and during the night by gale force winds, which moved large quantities of snow around the mountains.
