Spurs confirm major injury setback with two key players ruled out of Liverpool clash

Spurs face Liverpool on Sunday

Two of Spurs’ most important players have been ruled out of the club’s vital clash with Liverpool on Sunday, according to Igor Tudor.

The north London club are currently placed just one point outside of the Premier League relegation zone, and must avoid defeat to the Reds to make any improvement on their current position.

Matters were made even worse for the 2025 Europa League winners on Tuesday, as they suffered a 5-2 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid, all but ensuring they will not progress to the quarter finals of the tournament.

Last week’s events make securing a surprise victory over the Reds at Anfield even more important, but as confirmed by Igor Tudor, Spurs will have to do so without two of this season’s higher performers.

Speaking to the press ahead on Friday, the club’s Croatian head coach confirmed that neither of Joao Palhinha, nor club captain Cristian Romero, would be fit to face Liverpool.

Summing up his disappointment, Tudor said: “This is how it is in this club.

“This happens all the time. We start to build something and then something happens, a red card or three or four injuries.

“This is very rare it happen. In my career I never see this situation like every game missing two players and the next game, then a red card. Very rare and very unusual but we need to accept it and try to change the things you can change. On these things you can do nothing.”

The north Londoners face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon where they will hope to end their current run of six successive losses.
