The long-awaited boxing bout between the generation’s two most successful British fighters, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, looks set to take place soon, according to Turki Alalshikh.
Taking to social media platform X, the Saudi boxing executive wrote: “To my friends in Great Britain – it’s happening.”
He ended the message with the words: “It’s signed.”
No further information has yet been made available regarding when the fight will take place, although another X post, made by streaming giants Netflix earlier this month, is still live on the social media site.
It reads: “It’s happening. Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua This autumn, from the UK. LIVE only on Netflix.”
Who is Turki Alalshikh?
Turki Alalshikh is the best-known figure in Saudi Arabian boxing, and is said to be responsible for the Middle Eastern nation’s development into one of the world’s leading destinations for the hosting of major boxing bouts.
Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have all had fights backed by Alalshikh in the past, so it is no surprise he may be leading the way in negotiations for this long-awaited match.
A 2024 report from CEO Today, quoted by The Sun, put his net worth at £2.1 billion.
Also in 2024, Alalshikh completed a $10 million deal to purchase renowned Boxing magazine The Ring.
What else has been said about the fight?
Fury made his return to the ring earlier this month, securing an impressive points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a fight that Joshua watched from ringside.
Immediately after learning his victory was secure, Fury made towards Joshua, before telling the London crowd: “Next, I want to give you the fight you’ve all been waiting for.
“I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua. Let’s give the fight fans what they want – the Battle of Britain. I challenge you Anthony Joshua to fight me, the Gypsy King, next. Do you accept my challenge?”
Joshua could then be heard responding: “I’ve never had no problem getting in a ring with you, he replied.
“I punched you up when we were kids and, after watching you tonight, I’ll punch you up again.
“With all due respect, tonight is your night and you know I’ll be across that ring from you in due time.
“You ain’t going to tell me what to do. I’ve been chasing you for the last 10 years. When you’re ready, you come and see me and tell me your terms and conditions and I’ll have you in the ring when I’m ready.
“I’m the boss, you work for me. I’m the landlord. Remember that. You work for me.”

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have both at points in their careers held the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
Fury, 37, has a 35-2-1 (24 KOs) record, with his only professional loss coming against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
Joshua, 36, has a 29-4-0 (26 KO’s) record, with defeats having come against Daniel Dubois, twice to Oleksandr Usyk, and Andy Ruiz.
