A school bus carrying 40 children has flipped over in a serious crash, as the Ambulance Service has declared a ‘significant’ incident.
The crash happened in Co Armagh at around 3:45pm.
The incident was attended by police, fire and ambulance services responding to reports of a collision on the Tullyah Road on the outskirts of Newry.
Reports from Northern Ireland have said that there were 40 children on board the bus which is on its side.
A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson said: “The call was received at 15:38 and NIAS dispatched multiple resources to the incident.
“Currently five ambulances, two advanced paramedics, one officer and an ambulance doctor are at the scene treating patients. “
Police released a brief statement.
It read: “Road users are advised of a collision in the Tullyah Road area of Belleeks between Newtownhamilton and Camlough.
“Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes. An update will be issued in due course.”
