Obama finally issues response to Donald Trump’s racist video of them

The former president has shared his thoughts on the video.

Barack Obama has finally issued a response to Donald Trump’s racist video of the Obamas.

President Donald Trump posted a clip on Truth Social earlier this month which showed an AI-generated clip of Obama and his wife Michelle, who were illustrated as apes.

The clip sparked outrage online due to its racist nature.

In a recent interview with Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama broke his silence on the clip, stating: “I think it’s important to recognise that the majority of the American people find this behaviour deeply troubling.

“It is true that it gets attention. It’s true that it’s a distraction. You meet people, they still believe in decency, courtesy, kindness, and there’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and on television,” he added.

It wasn’t just the public who were disgusted by the clip, but other leading political figures including President and CEO of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Derrick Johnson, who branded it ‘disgusting and utterly despicable’.

President Trump has prior experience in creating AI clips of former president Barack Obama, having last summer shared a video of Obama on his knees, being handcuffed by the FBI.

The clip was captioned ‘no one is above the law’, with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi also featured in the clip.
