Fire engines rushed to meet the aircraft on the runway

A British Airways flight was forced to declare a mid-air emergency shortly before landing.

Flight BA812 was travelling from London Heathrow to Copenhagen Airport, but experienced an issue shortly before it was due to land on Sunday, February 1.

Pilots emitted a Squawk 7700 code, indicating the sign for a general emergency.

The Airbus A319 was met with emergency service vehicles, including fire engines, upon landing.

It was inspected while on the tarmac, before being taken to Gate C28 where passengers could disembark normally via an airbridge.

“We’re awaiting the revised departure and arrival times. We apologise to our customers for the delay to their travel plans,” British Airways said.

It is still unclear what the cause of the problem was.
