Trump warned “the next attack will be far worse”

Following Donald Trump’s threats to send a massive armada to Iran, Keir Starmer has said that he agrees with the US president that the country must not get nuclear weapons.

The Prime Minister said that the UK is working with allies to prevent this from happening, however he did not say whether the country is in direct cooperation with the US.

Starmer was asked about the situation during a visit to China, and he told broadcasters that “the big issue, the big challenge here, is to ensure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear programme and we all absolutely agree on that, and we’re working with allies to that end, and that is the central focus I’m doing with our allies.”

“We all agree that ensuring that Iran doesn’t get that nuclear programme is is the number one priority, and that’s what we’re working on”, Stramer said, when asked if Trump’s actions were right.

Trump said that a large US naval fleet was moving towards Iran “quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose”.

“A massive armada” led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was heading to Iran, Trump said in a message on his platform, Truth Social, as he claimed that the fleet was bigger than that assembled for the operation in Venezuela which led to the capture of Nicolas Maduro.

“Like with Venezuela it is ready, willing and able to rapidly fulfil its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary”, Trump warned.

The American leader also warned the regime in Tehran that it must “come to the table” to make a “fair and equitable deal”, including abandoning its nuclear weapons programme, or “the next attack will be far worse”.

In recent weeks, thousands of people in Iran have been killed as the authorities have responded violently to protests in cities across the country.

Trump previously pledged help to the uprising against the Tehran regime, but suggested that the presence of the fleet was linked to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
