The club have issued a statement advising ‘extreme caution’
Premier League side Chelsea have issued a stark warning to supporters in Italy for today’s clash with Napoli after two fans were reportedly stabbed by rival supporters.
Per a report in The Mail, fans were allegedly chased by a group of “25 ultras,” and two people were stabbed.
Two Chelsea supporters were then taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
One Chelsea fan took to X to share his version of events, writing: “F*** me man that’s was so f*****d, literally just going to another pub n 25 napoli ultra w knifes chasing us n stabbed one of my boys, everyone saying don’t go looking got trouble, we was literally walking to another pub and the was all there, so f****d, glad no one was seriously injured man.”
He later returned to the platform to provide the following update: “Thankfully out of hospital just of course naturally shaken up.”
Following reports of the incident, Chelsea have issued a full warning to fans.
It reads: “The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples.
“Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture.”
Neither of Napoli football club, nor local police in Naples, have provided a public response to reports of the incident yet.
The match kicks-off at 8pm GMT tomorrow evening, with as many as away 2,500 fans expected to be in attendance.
They will be provided with a police escort as they travel to the match.
