“There is a heightened risk.”

A travel warning has been issued by the UK’s Foreign Office for 16 countries.

Some of the countries on the list are top tourist destinations for British citizens.

This news comes following heightened tensions in numerous spots across the globe, particularly in relation to the mass protests and demonstrations in Iran which have been labelled by many as a revolution.

President Donald Trump previously promised that ‘help is on the way’ to Iran however this is yet to come to fruition.

It has been reported that Israel persuaded Trump not to get involved. Following these protests, a number of countries in the Middle East have become more dangerous, prompting the Foreign Office to issue a warning.

In the warning, they said: “There is a heightened risk of regional tension. Escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts. Escalation could lead to travel disruption and other unanticipated impacts.

“British nationals should take sensible precautions, considering their own individual circumstances.”

The Foreign Office suggests that if you are travelling to any of these 16 countries, you should read up on their guidance of what to do should a crisis take place while abroad.

They also clarify that you are responsible for your own safety.

Here’s the full list of countries:

  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Yemen
  • Syria
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Qatar
  • Oman
  • Libya
  • Lebanon
  • Kuwait
  • Jordan
  • Iraq

  • Iran

The likes of Yemen, Iran, and Syria already had the strictest warnings in place – advising all people to avoid travelling there.

Other nations, such as Iraq and Libya, had warnings suggesting avoiding travel to certain parts of the country.

However some spots, such as the UAE, Turkey, and Qatar, have now also been issued with the travel warning.
