Trump had warned about US military action in Iran

US President Donald Trump has been warned in a segment on Iranian state television on Wednesday that “this time, [the bullet] won’t miss”, as Tehran’s rhetoric amid rising tensions has escalated.

In the segment, there is an image of Trump in which is surrounded by Secret Service agents following the 2024 assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The post was shared on X with a translation from Farsi by Amichai Stein, a correspondent for The Jerusalem Post and i24 News.

The footage aired by Iranian state media during a funeral ceremony in Tehran on Wednesdayn included an image referencing Trump’s 2024 assassination attempt, was broadcast among banners reading “Death to America”.

Since the US drone strike of January 2020 that killed General Qassem Soleimani on Trump’s orders, Iranian officials and state media have repeatedly issued threats toward the American president.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has vowed retaliation, as its senior commanders at times suggested Trump would be a target.

On the other hand, state television has periodically aired symbolic threats or warnings, as Tehran’s leadership has framed these statements as part of its pledge to avenge Soleimani’s death.

Following the mass protests in Iran, Trump warned about US military action in the country if protesters are executed.

Trump told CBS News on Tuesday that “we will take very strong action if they do such a thing. When they start killing thousands of people—and now you’re telling me about hanging. We’ll see how that’s going to work out for them.”

However, the Iranian government has vowed to hold fast-track public trials for those detained in what officials described as acts of “riot” and “terror,” following weeks of anti-government demonstrations.

The protests have turned into the largest challenge to the Islamic Republic since 1979, as per the AFP report.

According to Iran’s judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, those accused of committing violent crimes would be prosecuted swiftly, at times interrogating detainees himself on camera.

The precise number of deaths in Iran remains contested due to severe blackout and government restrictions.
