Number four spot might surprise you
As the top ten list of the richest sportsmen has been revealed, some surprising names are included in the list of the highest earners.
The landmark status by the Manchester United and England icon was reached after decades as one of sport’s biggest names.
Beckham, 51, and wife Victoria, 52, are now worth an estimated £1.185billion.
This has put them second on the list of Britain’s wealthiest sporting names.
The former England captain became a global superstar during his career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Since hanging up his boots in 2013, Beckham has built a huge business empire.
These days his fortune is boosted by sponsorship deals as well as his stake at Inter Miami, the MLS team.
Football, boxing, golf and Formula One stars all feature among the richest sports names in Britain, as the latest figures from the Rich List show the huge earning potential of modern athletes.
10. Harry Kane and Sir Andy Murray – £110m
The Three Lions captain has banked huge wages from current club Bayern Munich and former club Tottenham Hotspur.
Where Kane has cashed in off the pitch though, is after he became the face of Skechers’ football boot launch.
Following his split from Nike, he signed a lifetime global deal with the brand.
Murray, on the other hand, made his fortune from prize money and sponsorships after becoming a three-time Grand Slam champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist on the tennis courts.
9. Tyson Fury – £162m
The 37-year-old has earned mega-money purses from heavyweight blockbusters, and this includes his trilogy with Deontay Wilder.
The profile of The Gypsy King has also grown away from the ring thanks to Netflix series “At Home With The Furys”.
The series follows himself, his wife Paris and their family.
With a long-awaited clash dubbed Battle of Britain against Anthony Joshua later this year, his fortune could be set to climb even higher.
8. Anthony Joshua – £240m
With an estimated £240m, Joshua is number eight on the list.
Following his Olympic gold at London 2012 and becoming a two-time heavyweight world champion, the 36-year-old became a regular name in conversations about Britain’s most wealthy sportsmen.
7. Rory McIlroy – £325m
With a fortune of £325m, Rory McIlroy is number seven on the list.
The Northern Irish golfer, 37, is also Britain’s richest sportsman under 40. Following his win at the Masters in 2025, he finally completed golf’s career Grand Slam.
6. Tom and Phil Beahon – £350m
Thanks to sportswear brand Castore, brothers Tom and Phil Beahon are worth £350m.
They founded the British sportswear company in Manchester and have since landed deals across football, cricket, Formula One, rugby and tennis.
In addition to that, they also sponsor Premier League side Everton and England Rugby.
5. Sir Lewis Hamilton – £435m
With £435m to his name, as a seven-time Formula One world champion, Hamilton is one of the biggest names in the world of sport.
The F1 star, 41, has built much of his fortune during his trophy-laden spell at Mercedes before making a jaw dropping switch to Ferrari.
Away from the circuit, he has also attracted attention after being frequently spotted with Kim Kardashian, even if reports have stopped short of confirming a relationship.
4. Ben Francis – £800m
Ben Francis, 33, is worth £800m after the massive success of the fitness apparel and accessories company Gymshark, which he started while at university and then build it into a giant of global athleisure.
Following the start of the company, he learned how to make hoodies after sewing lessons from his mum and grandmother, and Gymshark has become a household brand name since.
3. Barry and Eddie Hearn – £1.035bn
With a combined fortune of 1.035bn, father-son duo Barry and Eddie Hearn are third.
They have built one of the biggest promotion empires in world sport, having cashed in on major broadcast deals.
These include Matchroom’s long-running relationship with Sky Sports and boxing’s move into the streaming era through DAZN.
The Hearns cover boxing, darts, snooker, pool and more.
2. Sir David and Victoria Beckham – £1.185bn
Since Lionel Messi’s blockbuster move to MLS club Inter Miami sent its global profile soaring, Sir David’s stake in the club has also been transformed.
The Beckhams are second on the list with a fortune of no less than £1.185bn.
1. Bernie Ecclestone and family – £2bn
Top of the list is secured by Bernie Ecclestone and his family, with £2bn.
As the long-time boss of F1, the 95-year-old’s fortune was made as he controlled the sport’s commercial rights for decades.
Ecclestone led the motorsports’ move into new markets as he entered countries like Bahrain, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
Thanks to his contributions the sport was also turned into a global TV product, selling broadcast rights around the globe.
In 2017, however, the magnate finally stepped away from the top of Formula 1 after the takeover of the sport was completed by Liberty Media.
