The Red Devils have made their decision.
Michael Carrick has been a huge success at Manchester United, guiding the club from the Europa League positions to comfortably 3rd in the table, with Champions League football now returning to Old Trafford.
The interim gaffer has picked up some priceless points on the way too. Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been put to the sword since he took over the departing Ruben Amorim after the 1-1 draw at Leeds United in early January.
Form has continued to be good, with the excellent Bruno Fernandes recently picking up the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year trophy for his phenomenal performances. After winning three consecutive matches, the side also drew at Sunderland, where the Stadium of Light has become a fortress this campaign.
Though the legendary Casemiro may be departing, it is understood that one man will be staying beyond the summer: Carrick himself.
As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, the club are set to continue with the gaffer beyond the current season.
The chances of a permanent tenure have increased for weeks, with everybody at the club feeling that he should stay, including players and management.
Now the next step has been made clear, talks are in the final stage and a new deal is on the horizon.
