Famous faces everywhere
While many of us were busy celebrating Star Wars Day (May the 4th), the rich and famous were taking to the streets of New York in the latest edition of the Met Gala.
This year the theme was ‘Fashion is Art’ – not exactly the most thought provoking prompt in the world, but designers certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Met Gala started in 1948 as a small fundraiser founded by Eleanor Lambert for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute in New York City.
It grew into a global fashion spectacle, especially under Anna Wintour, featuring themed, invite-only appearances by top celebrities.
Today, it’s both a major fundraiser and one of the most influential events in fashion and pop culture.
Some of the world’s most recognisable faces attended the event, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Sabrina Carpenter as well as Katy Perry who has confused the entire internet with her outfit.
Wearing a silver, alien-like mask, Perry stole the headlines as many questioned it’s meaning.
A press release later confirmed it was “designed to be a literal and symbolic reflection that invites the observer to consider that their perception of others can mirror their own internal world, and conversely mask truth,” – interesting.
Anyway, without further ado, here are the most wild, weird and interesting looks of the night!
