There has been ‘movement in the last 48 hours.’
A full England international could switch his national allegiance, in order to appear at the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are now just months away from the beginning of the North American World Cup, where the Three Lions are be expected to be amongst the favourites to win.
Considering the pressure on the current side to win their first trophy in more than six decades, it is likely that several previously capped players will miss out when Tuchel names his final squad for the upcoming tournament.
Following on from a flawless qualifying campaign, in which England won every single match, the 1966 champions were placed into the highest seeded pot, and handed a favourable set of opponents in the group stage.
As was confirmed at last December’s grand draw, England are set to play Ghana, Croatia, and Panama in the first round of the upcoming tournament.
Remarkably, one England forward who is currently viewed as unlikely to make Tuchel’s final squad, has reportedly been offered the chance to switch international allegiance and represent one of the nation’s group-stage opponents at the World Cup instead.

According to journalist Rahman Osman, Ghana have approached Nottingham Forest forward Callum Hudson-Odoi to play for them at the World Cup.
The move could make sense, given that the West African nation has recently appointed a new manager.
Former Real Madrid head coach Carlos Queiroz is likely to be assessing potential additions as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the tournament.
Hudson-Odoi has represented the Three Lions on three occasions, but is also eligible to play for Ghana through his father.
With the player’s last England cap having come during qualification for EURO 2020, Hudson-Odoi is unlikley to make a late entry into England’s World Cup squad, and his best chance of appearing at the tournament could rest with a switch to Ghana.
It now remains to be seen how talks between the player and the Ghanian football federation progress between now and the tournament’s beginning.
