He will miss matches against Man City, Man United and the North London derby

Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur is set to miss at least the next three months of the Premier League season, according to BBC Sport reporter Sami Mokbel.

The 28-year-old has been a key player for Thomas Frank’s struggling side this season, making 20 appearances for the north Londoners already this season, so is likely to be a major miss for the club’s under-fire Danish manager.

The Uruguay international is set to have surgery on a torn hamstring in the coming days, in hope of regaining match fitness ahead of this summer’s World Cup finals in North America.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League table, and were eliminated from the FA Cup last week.

With Mohammed Kudus also sidelined with injury, it seems likely that Spurs will now move into the transfer market to sign another midfielder this January.
