{"id":5672,"date":"2026-05-15T22:10:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5672"},"modified":"2026-05-15T22:10:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T22:10:32","slug":"gogglebox-star-dies-after-short-illness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5672","title":{"rendered":"Gogglebox star dies after &#8216;short illness&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>Very sad news just in.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Gogglebox star Ken Harwood has died.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The 77-year-old passed away following a short illness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>His death was confirmed by the Gogglebox bosses who said that he passed away last week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:0\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>They&#8217;re set to pay tribute to him on tonight&#8217;s show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Ken and his wife Anne were popular Gogglebox cast members from series 15-19.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>A statement from the show makers said: \u201cKen will be dearly missed by his wife Anne, sons Simon and Ross, daughter-in-law, Elle, grandchildren Freya and Tristram, and all who knew him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThere will be a tribute to Ken at the end of Channel 4\u2019s episode on Gogglebox tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:1\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Ken was born in 1948 in Consett, County Durham and worked as a postmaster for 30 years before becoming a local councillor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>During his first appearance on Gogglebox, Ken presented his wife Anne with a bouquet of 50 roses, one for every year they had been married.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Anne joked: &#8220;You have put me to shame now with a card and roses, and I got you nothing.
