{"id":5110,"date":"2026-04-22T13:21:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T13:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5110"},"modified":"2026-04-22T13:21:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T13:21:21","slug":"labour-set-for-worst-london-results-in-decades-as-big-gains-predicted-for-greens-and-reform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5110","title":{"rendered":"Labour set for worst London results in decades as big gains predicted for Greens and Reform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>Labour are predicted to lose control of six councils in the capital.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Labour are predicted to have their worst results in London since the 1970s, according to a major new poll.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Polling carried out by YouGov for\u00a0Sky News\u00a0projects that Labour will see big losses across the capital in May\u2019s local elections, when every London borough councillor seat will be up for election.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>According to the polling, Labour will lose control of six councils they currently control, leaving them with 15 councils in London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:0\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Whilst this will still make them the biggest party in London, their vote share is also predicted to drop to 26%, down 16 points.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>At the same time, the Greens and Reform are expected to make significant gains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The Green Party are projected to win control of four councils (Hackney, Lambeth, Lewisham and Waltham Forest), whilst also taking the second-highest share of the vote across the city (22%).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>This will be the first time the party has ever gained control of a London council.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:1\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Meanwhile, Reform are predicted to win three councils, in Barking and Dagenham, Bromley, and Havering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>However, their share of the vote is expected to be much lower, on 14%, which would leave them in fifth in the capital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>It\u2019s looking like bad news for the Tories in London as well, with the party set to lose control of one council and take 17% of the city-wide vote, a drop of nine points on 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>And it could be a relatively positive result for the Lib Dems who could pick up another London council in the form of Merton.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><\/div>\n<p>#Labour #set #worst #London #results #decades #big #gains #predicted #Greens #Reform<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Labour are predicted to lose control of six councils in the capital.
