{"id":5104,"date":"2026-04-22T09:14:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5104"},"modified":"2026-04-22T09:14:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:14:16","slug":"ryanair-threatens-to-axe-all-flights-to-major-holiday-destination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5104","title":{"rendered":"Ryanair threatens to axe all flights to major holiday destination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>It carried more than half of total passengers to the country<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Brits soon might not be able to travel with Ryanair to a popular holiday destination, as the airline has revealed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>As per Ryanair, due to huge queues at the airport, the holiday hotspot could soon lose all of its flights from the airline.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>As a result of border control, Ryanair is threatening to axe flights to Malta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:0\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Passengers were left stranded on the tarmac for 20 minutes because the queues were so long at security inside the airport building, recent reports found.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cIf we find ourselves with significant congestion and delay, we\u2019d have to redirect capacity away from Malta to other destinations and that\u2019s not something we\u2019d like to do\u201d, said David O\u2019Brien, one of Ryanair\u2019s executive officers and the CEO of Malta Air.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:1\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>According to The Times of Malta, he has since written to Malta\u2019s Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri to ensure border controls are fully staffed for this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cEurope is utterly unprepared in a general sense\u201d, O\u2019Brien added, and that while the airline has not yet experienced significant delays at Malta Airport, it is concerned about the upcoming summertime period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:2\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>In 2025, with the UK being the biggest market, Ryanair carried more than half of total passengers to Malta and of those travelling to the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Malta Airport has introduced new measures such as a specific Schengen corridor, as well as increasing the amount of immigration desks, in order to try and reduce the delays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:3\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cImmigration controls fall under the responsibility of the Malta Police Force, and we are working in close coordination with them to support efficient passenger flows.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The airport is remaining in regular contact with airlines and that they will \u201crespond quickly where needed\u201d, the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$?--><template id=\"B:4\"\/><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Malta isn\u2019t the only airport suffering delays due to the newly implemented EES system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The new system is used across 29 European countries to register non-EU nationals, which includes Brits, for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><\/div>\n<p>#Ryanair #threatens #axe #flights #major #holiday #destination<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It carried more than half of total passengers to the country Brits soon might not be able to travel with Ryanair to a popular holiday destination, as the airline has revealed.
