{"id":5045,"date":"2026-04-20T12:58:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T12:58:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5045"},"modified":"2026-04-20T12:58:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T12:58:15","slug":"uk-to-get-three-day-working-week-next-year-due-to-bank-holiday-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=5045","title":{"rendered":"UK to get three-day working week next year due to bank holiday change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>Here&#8217;s when you can enjoy time off<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Next year, Brits will officially get a three-day working week due to \u201csubstitute\u201d bank holidays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Following the Bank Holidays of April, the next Bank Holiday in the UK this year is on Monday, May 4, shortly followed by the Spring Bank Holiday on Monday, May 25.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>But in 2027, the UK is looking at a three-day working week around the Christmas period, with a whopping five days off in a row.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>What is more, January 1, 2028, falls on a Saturday, meaning Brits will get a \u201csubstitute\u201d day on Monday, January 3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>This means that if you take just two days of annual leave as a worker in Britain, on December 30 and 31 in 2027, you will get a whopping 10 days off from December 25 until January 3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cIf a bank holiday is on a weekend, a \u2018substitute\u2019 weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday\u201d, the government stated on their website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cYour employer does not have to give you paid leave on bank or public holidays.
