{"id":4932,"date":"2026-04-15T15:14:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T15:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4932"},"modified":"2026-04-15T15:14:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T15:14:14","slug":"two-police-officers-charged-after-pregnant-woman-die-in-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4932","title":{"rendered":"Two police officers charged after pregnant woman die in crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>BREAKING<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Two police officers have been charged after a heavily pregnant woman and her unborn baby were killed in a fatal crash.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>PC Chris Johnson has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and PC Danny Tomkins has been charged with dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>It comes after an investigation from the Independent Office for Police Conduct.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Both men are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates&#8217; Court on 28 May.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The collision took place on October 17, 2024, when the unmarked police car was involved in a collision with another car on the A20, near the junction with Kidbrooke Park.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>A 38-year-old woman driving the other vehicle, who was heavily pregnant at the time, died in hospital later from her injuries. Her baby sadly died at the scene.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts remain with the woman\u2019s family and friends, who continue to grieve the loss of her and her unborn child. This was a truly terrible and heartbreaking incident,&#8221; Acting Detective Chief Superintendent James Derham said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThe IOPC have conducted a thorough and complex investigation and we have worked closely with them as their enquiries have progressed.
