{"id":4930,"date":"2026-04-15T14:11:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4930"},"modified":"2026-04-15T14:11:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T14:11:44","slug":"new-cancer-drug-nearly-doubles-survival-time-for-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4930","title":{"rendered":"New cancer drug nearly doubles survival time for patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>The company behind the drug says the results are \u201cunprecedented\u201d<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>A new drug for pancreatic cancer nearly doubles survival time for patients compared to those treated with just chemotherapy, according to a medicine company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Pancreatic cancer has one of the worst survival rates of cancer globally, with around 13 per cent of patients surviving for five years after diagnosis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>However, a new trial of a once-daily pill has helped patients with pancreatic cancer live nearly twice as long than those who were treated with chemotherapy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Oral drug daraxonrasib showed a median overall survival of 13.2 months, compared to 6.7 \u200bmonths for those treated with just chemotherapy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Revolution Medicines said the \u201cunprecedented\u201d\u00a0results are because of the drug&#8217;s ability to block the RAS gene.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cWe are moving with urgency toward global regulatory submissions and remain committed to rapidly advancing this therapy for patients with a broad range of RAS-addicted cancers,\u201d\u00a0Revoliution Medicines chief executive Dr. Mark Goldsmith said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The company says they plan to launch a new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The drug, which is designed to be taken by patients as a 300 milligram dose, has some nasty side effects, including rash, vomiting, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, inflammation, mouth sores, liver inflammation, a decrease in red blood cells, scaly skin and effects on the kidneys.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>However, chemotherapy also has similar negative side effects, and can cause nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, mouth sores, nerve problems , hair loss, fatigue, constipation, incontinence, weight changes, anxiety, depression and reduced counts of platelets, white blood cells, red blood cells.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><\/div>\n<p>#cancer #drug #doubles #survival #time #patients<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company behind the drug says the results are \u201cunprecedented\u201d A new drug for pancreatic cancer nearly doubles survival time for patients compared to those treated with just chemotherapy, according to a medicine company.
