{"id":4911,"date":"2026-04-14T20:14:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T20:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4911"},"modified":"2026-04-14T20:14:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T20:14:44","slug":"only-two-percent-of-gen-z-eat-casserole-for-dinner-poll-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.worldpumpnews.com\/?p=4911","title":{"rendered":"Only two percent of Gen Z eat casserole for dinner, poll reveals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><h2>The classics are falling out of fashion!<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Just two per cent of Gen Z eat casseroles as traditional weeknight favourites fall out of fashion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>A poll of 2,000 adults revealed only 12 per cent of the younger generation tuck into jacket potatoes or soup for their evening meals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Classic staples like sausage and mash (13 per cent) and chilli con carne (nine per cent) are also declining among Gen Z, compared to much higher popularity among older generations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>That said, tradition hasn\u2019t disappeared entirely, with 17 per cent still enjoying classic meals &#8211; often with a contemporary twist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>It also emerged 23 per cent of those born between 1997 and 2012 prioritise taste when deciding what to eat, with 39 per cent turning to TikTok for recipe recommendations \u2013 more than any other generation, while one in five admit to trying a dish simply because it went viral.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Rob Watson from Homepride, which commissioned the research, said: \u201cSocial media has completely changed how people approach cooking. Gen Z are discovering new cuisines and flavours online and bringing that inspiration straight into their kitchens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s interesting is that while people are experimenting more, there\u2019s still a real appetite for nostalgic classics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cPeople still want those satisfying, familiar flavours, but they\u2019re looking for faster, easier ways to achieve them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where cooking sauces can really help, making it simple to recreate both classic dishes and new favourites at home.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"oathFrame\" height=\"700\" scrolling=\"yes\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.oathstudio.com\/homepride-food-age-quiz\/embed.html\" style=\"border:none\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"100%\" data-embed-type=\"embed\" data-embed-src=\"https:\/\/dev.oathstudio.com\/homepride-food-age-quiz\/embed.html\"><\/iframe><link rel=\"stylesheet\" href=\"https:\/\/dev.oathstudio.com\/homepride-food-age-quiz\/embed.css\" media=\"all\"\/><\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Despite this growing appetite for variety, 74 per cent of Brits admitted they eat the same or similar meals each week as they enjoy familiar routines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Time remains the biggest barrier to trying something new, as 42 per cent said they\u2019re too busy to be more adventurous with their midweek meals, spending on average 35 minutes cooking them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Meanwhile, 32 per cent are put off by recipes with too many ingredients and 30 per cent mentioned cost as a key concern.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>As a result, one in five adults regularly use ready-made sauces when cooking midweek meals \u2013 rising to 30 per cent among Gen Z.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Of those, 66 per cent said they save time and 58 per cent think they make cooking easier.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>To tap into these changing habits, Homepride has launched a new interactive quiz designed to reveal your midweek cooking personality.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Based on your go-to dinners &#8211; from the reliable favourites of a \u2018Classic Comforter\u2019 to the bold, globally inspired dishes of a \u2018Bold Modernist\u2019 &#8211; the quiz matches you to a cooking style and recommends tailored recipes using its sauces.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Rob Watson for Homepride added: \u201cMidweek dinners don\u2019t have to be time-consuming to be full of flavour.
