Musician, dancer and internet personality Jojo Siwa has opened up about the confusion and backlash she faced after entering a relationship with Chris Hughes last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The 22-year-old explained that her identity hasn\u2019t changed, even if her current relationship has, during an interview with Us Weekly on 7 April.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Siwa was one of the most talked about names last year, after starting her relationship with former Love Island star Chris Hughes following their Big Brother appearance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI clearly am not a straight human being. I could never say that I\u2019m straight. Am I in a straight relationship? Yes. Am I in love with a man? Yes! Do I want to spend the rest of my life with him? Absolutely. But does that discredit my past? Absolutely not. Zero,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As she reflected on first coming out at 17, she emphasised that her experiences, including past relationships with women and nonbinary people, remain a core part of who she is.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The reaction to her current relationship was described by her as \u201cconfusing\u201d, as she noted that some people who were previously supportive of her turned critical because she\u2019s now with a man.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, she says that she\u2019s committed to continuing to share her journey openly and advocate as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Siwa also leaned into broader labels that better reflect her identity, saying, \u201cQueer, pansexual, bisexual, plus the other terms that I could name, but those three, really relate to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnd if I had to put a label on it, just to basically shut people down, yeah, I would say I\u2019m probably pansexual\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Last year, Big Brother was criticised for \u201cforcing\u201d Siwa to come out as non-binary, while during her time on the show the musician also said that she \u201crealised she\u2019s not a lesbian\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
