Usually, when two musicians have a close friendship, it happens when they make a similar kind of music or move in the same circles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As is the case with Eminem and 50 Cent.<\/p>\n

But Eminem and Elton John’s connection lies elsewhere, and the \u2018Rocket Man\u2019 hitmaker\u2019s relation with the rapper has left many social media users surprised.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The star of \u2018Lose Yourself\u2019 has been sober for more than 15 years, and in fact he took to social media to post a picture of his AA chip.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He opened up about his sobriety journey in an appearance on the Paul Pod podcast in September 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember when I first got sober and all the s**t was out of my system\u201d, Eminem said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember just being, like, really happy and everything was f**king new to me again\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

But where\u2019s the Elton John connection, you may wonder?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

You can be given a sponsor to support you once you\u2019ve joined a sobriety program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

And this is someone who is also a recovering addict themselves, more often than not.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

And Eminem\u2019s sponsor is none other Elton John, who is also sober since 1990, having quit drugs and alcohol altogether.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, has also been open about their relationship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhen I first wanted to get sober, I called [Elton] and spoke to him about it\u201d, the rapper, 53, told The Guardian in 2009.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cHe understands \u2026 the pressure and any other reasons that you want to come up with for doing drugs. I reached out to him and told him, \u2018Look, I’m going through a problem and I need your advice\u2019\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As many people were quite surprised by this fact, one wrote: \u201cI don\u2019t know if you guys know this, but Elton John is Eminem\u2019s AA sponsor and for some reason, that makes my heart full.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
