The best-selling author has revealed that she received the news last month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “So\u2026 I thought I should post something as I\u2019ve had a few people notice I\u2019ve been a bit quiet on here lately.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“About a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer – very early stage thankfully & the prognosis is excellent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“I had a routine mammogram a week before Christmas. I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy & sent me for further tests & eventually a biopsy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“Since then I\u2019ve had more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely. It\u2019s been a lot, I\u2019m not going to lie.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“But, my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m getting incredible care and all will be fine but I\u2019m not engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws tbh. Dr Eric on duty. Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She met Gervais when studying at University College London in 1982.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
