Some customers using Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland apps were reportedly able to view the other people’s transactions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The incident has led to a spokesperson for the banking group apologising to customers for the glitch and confirmed that the issue has since been resolved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
While it is unknown just how many people were affected, customers have already been sharing their experience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
One woman told the BBC that she was able to see the accounts of six different users on the Bank of Scotland app across a 20-minute period.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Information she was able to see included people’s National Insurance numbers as well as benefits payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
She told the BBC: “There were transactions from Waitrose, there isn’t a Waitrose near us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“I kept logging out and back in, and every time the details changed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“I can see another person’s bank account, he got paid \u00a36,000 yesterday. Others, I can see their benefits payments, their National Insurance numbers, I can see where they work, almost their whole identity.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Other customers raised the issue on social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Accounts for the banks on X have been responding to concerns flagged by customers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
One reply from Halifax read: “Hi. This morning we incorrectly showed transaction information from some accounts to other customers in Internet Banking and the mobile app. We’re sorry this happened. This issue was quickly identified and resolved.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Another from the bank said: “We can assure you that nobody had access to your accounts. We’re currently reviewing what happened to ensure this cannot occur again. Protecting our customers\u2019 personal information and account security remains our priority.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Lloyds also shared the same message as a standard response.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
One user flagged this issue and wrote: “What the hell is going on with the #halifaxbank app? Just opened it and seen a person’s transactions. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“Closed it down and logged in again to see another person’s. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
“@HalifaxBank this is a massive data breach. This is not ok!!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Outage tracking website Downdetector saw a spike in reports of issues with the Halifax and Lloyds apps between 07:00 and 09:00.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
A smaller spike was reported on the Bank of Scotland app, according to the website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Lloyds Banking Group says it is the UK’s largest retail and commercial banking provider, with 26 million customers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
