A legendary radio DJ has announced that she is stepping down after nearly a decade and a half.<\/p>\n

Liza Tarbuck, presenter on BBC, has announced that after 14 years she is stepping down from her Saturday evening show on Radio 2.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made 2 hrs [hours] of radio feel like a private members club, that’s the stuff of dreams\u201d, she wrote on Instagram as she announced her departure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Until the end of this month, the slot will be backfilled by host of the Rock Show, Shaun Keaveny.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tarbuck would be \u201chugely missed\u201d, Radio 2 controller Helen Thomas said, who added that they \u201cwish her the very best of luck for the future\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thomas said that \u201cevery Saturday evening, Liza created a truly magical, fantastical world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe was beloved by everyone at the station and all her listeners, and the door at Radio 2 will always be open for her\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tarbuck, who hosted the show since 2012, since 17 January has not been on air.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Keaveny and comedian Josh Widdicombe have taken turns hosting the slot in the interim.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, she did not explain her absence to the listeners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tarbuck said: \u201cI’ll be seeing you\u2026 won’t I? Yes, I’ll be seeing you next week\u201d, at the end of her last programme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She looked back at her time on the show, saying: \u201cThousands of people enjoyed each other’s company like great friends\u2026 Thank you for letting me in, it’s been a privilege\u201d, in her Instagram post to her fans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The outgoing presenter had \u201cdecided she’d like her weekends back\u201d, according to a BBC Radio 2 statement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
