years<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose drop-cap \">\n<p>Amid soaring global oil prices, Brits have been urged to \u201cdrive less\u201d in a bid to save fuel.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the conflict in the Middle East, there have been suggestions that prices \u201ccould jump between 150p and 170p per litre\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>On Monday, drivers were discouraged from taking \u201cnon-essential\u201d car journeys, amid fears drivers could rush to the pumps in response to the supply restrictions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The price of crude oil surged past $100 a barrel on Monday, as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and restrictions on exports through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>This is the first time that there has been such a surge in prices, since 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Recently, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that he is in discussions with international partners to protect British businesses from the effects of the Iran War.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Automobile Association president Edmund King, who issued the advice, also suggested that motorists should change their driving style to be more fuel efficient.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThe longer this conflict goes on, the more effect it will have on the cost of oil\u201d, King said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cAny time Brent Crude passes 100 dollars per barrel raises concern across the markets, for the haulage industry and drivers\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThere will be gradual increases in pump prices, but this shouldn\u2019t happen overnight as fuel has been purchased at previous prices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cOur suggestion is that drivers should not change their refuelling habits but can consider cutting out some non-essential journeys and changing their driving style to conserve fuel.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>Following the outbreak of conflict, the Prime Minister told the public they are \u201cright to worry\u201d about \u201cbills and jobs\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>\u201cThe job of government \u200cis obviously to get ahead, look around the corner, to work with others,\u201d Prime Minister Starmer said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>He added that the government is \u201ctalking to our international partners, as well, about what more we can do together to reduce the likely impact \u2060on people here\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/$--><!--$--><!--\/$--><!--$--><\/p>\n<div class=\"custom-prose  \">\n<p>The
