\nMeanwhile, the British instinct to apologise remains unstoppable even when holding a plate piled with sausages. The average person says \u201csorry\u201d at least twice during a buffet trip, whether squeezing past someone or reaching for the scrambled eggs, while an extra-apologetic 13% manage five apologies or more before they\u2019ve even had caffeine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\nAnd despite this politeness, there\u2019s also paranoia. Over a third (35%) admit they feel judged by strangers over their portion sizes when walking back to their table, which may explain the slightly hunched, guilty walk many of us adopt while carrying three pastries and a full English.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\nThe irony? We\u2019re still going back for more. Brits typically have two portions at a buffet breakfast, with 27% happily returning for thirds despite the imagined scrutiny of fellow diners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
