Spandau Ballet star Ross Davidson has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old who used the stage name Ross Wild performed as the singer for the famous \u201980s band in 2018 and starred in Queen-based West End musical We Will Rock You.<\/p>\n

The Aberdeen-born singer was found guilty of all charges brought against him by jurors at Wood Green Crown Court after almost a dozen hours of deliberation.<\/p>\n
The singer had previously pleaded not guilty to the rape of a woman in London in March 2015 as well as the attempted rape and sexual assault of another in Thailand in December 2019.<\/p>\n
He argued his actions were consensual, but pleaded guilty to voyeurism against the woman in Thailand after a secretly filmed video of her sleeping was found on his phone.<\/p>\n
Following the convictions, Det Con Kamila Kedadrova, from the Metropolitan Police, described Davidson as \u201ca prolific offender who carried out cowardly and opportunistic assaults against his victims\u201d.<\/p>\n Prosecutor Richard Hearnden said Davidson had been thought of as \u201ca bit of a sex symbol\u201d but the two women found he had \u201ca much darker side that they did not notice, at least at first\u201d.<\/p>\n The women met Davidson through the dating app Tinder.<\/p>\n Davidson claimed all sexual activity he engaged in was consensual.<\/p>\n The rape victim from the incident in 2015 told the jury she woke to find Davidson assaulting her while she slept at his London home.<\/p>\n She told how Davidson had expressed the idea of sex with \u201ca person in a helpless state, someone not moving\u201d.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Davidson described himself as \u201csex positive\u201d, explaining that for him the term meant having \u201copen dialogue\u201d and being \u201copen-minded about people\u2019s predilections\u201d.<\/p>\n In the 2019 case in Thailand, detectives discovered a video on Davidson\u2019s phone showing the victim being touched while \u201casleep, still and unresponsive\u201d and \u201cat least half-naked\u201d.<\/p>\n The victim said she had no idea the footage existed previously.<\/p>\n Davidson denied sexual assault and attempted rape, but pleaded guilty to voyeurism.<\/p>\n He said he created the video for \u201cselfish reasons, for sexual gratification\u201d and wished he \u201chad never done it\u201d.<\/p>\n The court heard Davidson had been found guilty of rape, two counts of sexual assault and voyeurism at a previous trial.<\/p>\n He is due to be sentenced at a later date.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n <\/div>\n #Spandau #Ballet #star #guilty #rape #attempted #sexual #assault<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A jury found him guilty Spandau Ballet star Ross Davidson has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault.
