An alpaca in Cornwall is now left without two of his friends, as two alpacas it shared a pen with have died of old age.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old-alpaca, Giovanni, lives at Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park in Saint Columb.<\/p>\n

He has now been given mirrors to help him feel less lonely.<\/p>\n
The animal was \u201cin need of a special treat\u201d and \u201ca sense that there\u2019s somebody else around\u201d, the operations director at the park, Gary Zammit said.<\/p>\n
According to the park, this was a short-term solution, and they appealed for people to donate mirrors.<\/p>\n \u201cWe just wanted to get some mirrors up as a temporary situation just to help him feel a little bit less isolated\u201d, Zammit added.<\/p>\n The park\u2019s operations director said that normally three alpacas were in a pen at one time but two had died shortly after one another.<\/p>\n He said that two female alpacas would be donated to the sanctuary by a regular visitor, in order to keep Giovanni company.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve just got to do some planning because obviously you can\u2019t just take animals from anywhere and add them to a collection of this size\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n After the appeals for mirrors on social media, Zammit said he now had \u201cplenty\u201d, and that \u201che seems quite happy seeing his reflection.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s been pretty good but it\u2019s even better when he\u2019s got that there so he can see another alpaca as far as he, hopefully, thinks in the paddock with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
