John Barrowman has faced criticism after posting a video of himself in tears cradling his recently deceased dog.<\/p>\n
In the clip, Barrowman can be seen holding his Jack Russell as he explains that his dog had waited for him to return home before dying in his arms.<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s dog was named Captain Jack Harkness after the actor\u2019s Torchwood character.<\/p>\n
He says in the video: \u201cIt was really difficult. But I got home tonight and he was still with us.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he waited until I got home and I held him, we put him to bed next to me and I held onto him and I felt his heart stop and now he\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe died in my arms. I am sad but it is just the way I wanted it. He waited for me all day. He\u2019s such a good boy. Thank you for all your support and all your patience for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the caption he wrote: \u201cCaptain Jack Harkness our beloved Jack Russell has gone. He waited until i came home and he died peacefully in his dada\u2019s arms within an hour of my return with @scottmale Dixie and Tito around him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was a good boy, a loyal friend and our Jackamo for 18 years. We are very sad but grateful he died of old age and did not suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many commenters offered their condolences to Barrowman, however a number of comments were critical with one person writing: \u201cI\u2019m so sorry he lost his beloved pet but why are we filming ourselves sobbing with dead pets?\u201d<\/p>\n
Another wrote: \u201cAs a dog owner, I watched that (not all, very briefly) and thought strange behaviour.\u201d<\/p>\n
A third wrote: \u201cHaving lost a number of dogs through my life I know the pain he is feeling. I\u2019ve never once felt the urge to film it though.\u201d<\/p>\n
