US President Donald Trump has named former prime minister Sir Tony Blair as part of his Gaza\u2019s \u201cBoard of Peace\u201d, to lead the long-term peace efforts in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
The White House has announced that Sir Tony has been named alongside high-profile Trump administration officials as a founding member of the founding executive board.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBoard of Peace\u201d aims at preventing future conflict in the territory.<\/p>\n
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also included in the list, as well as special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, Trump\u2019s son-in-law.<\/p>\n
Billionaire Marc Rowan, World Bank president Ajay Banga and US Deputy National Security adviser Robert Gabriel are the other members that have been named.<\/p>\n
According to The White House, the board, which is chaired by Trump, will help \u201coperationalise the Board of Peace\u2019s vision\u201d.<\/p>\n
It also suggested that the individual members of this group would each hold specialist portfolios to help \u201cstabilisation\u201d efforts in Gaza.<\/p>\n
The 20-point plan was a road map for \u201clasting peace, stability, reconstruction, and prosperity in the region\u201d, The White House said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach executive board member will oversee a defined portfolio critical to Gaza\u2019s stabilisation and long-term success, including, but not limited to, governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization\u201d, the statement went on.<\/p>\n
Sir Tony Blair\u2019s name also appeared on a longer list of names as part of a \u201cGaza Executive Board\u201d.<\/p>\n
The purpose of it appears to be advising a newly set up interim government for Gaza.<\/p>\n

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, which is the interim authority, was established on Wednesday, led by \u201ctechnocratic\u201d Palestinian officials.<\/p>\n
The former Labour prime minister and ten others, including Mr Witkoff and Mr Kushner, will support this fledgling government on \u201ceffective governance and the delivery of best-in-class services that advance peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Gaza\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Members of the Board will be announced shortly, but I can say with certainty that it is the Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place\u201d, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Thursday.<\/p>\n
