one disappointment in Prime Minister Mark Carney\u2018s otherwise helpful package of measures to boost the domestic market in the face of U.S. tariffs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/d21y75miwcfqoq.cloudfront.net\/70c8fc80\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Carney announced new measures Wednesday to help steel and lumber producers find fresh markets for their goods within Canada.<\/p>\n<p>They include tighter quotas on foreign steel entering Canada and a promise to trim the loss of access to the U.S. market, but they\u2019re a step in the right direction for an industry in desperate need of relief.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>She says the industry was disappointed to see Ottawa announce a second extension to Canada\u2019s remission program for some steel importers in critical industries, which waters down Ottawa\u2019s retaliatory tariffs on U.S. steel.<\/p>\n<p>Cobden says she\u2019ll be holding the federal government to its word after Carney promised Wednesday
