We do not expect this inquiry to have any impact on the transaction,\u201d Cenovus CEO Jon McKenzie told an analyst conference call Friday to discuss third-quarter results.<\/p>\n<p>He said 86 per cent of MEG shareholders have voted in favour of the deal by proxy or have signalled they intend to do so in person, far exceeding the necessary two-thirds threshold.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"c-blockquote l-article__blockquote\">\n<div class=\"c-infoBox\">\n<div class=\"c-infoBox__inner\">\n<p class=\"c-blockquote__content l-article__blockquoteContent\">\u201cWe expect the vote to proceed as planned next week. Cenovus has said output could grow to 850,000 boe\/d in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>MEG accepted the takeover offer from Cenovus in August after spurning a hostile overture months earlier from oilsands peer Strathcona Resources Ltd., which has amassed a 14.2 per cent stake in MEG.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-tabs\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t<button role=\"tab\" class=\"c-tabs__tab c-tabs__tab--active\" type=\"button\">More on Money<\/button><br \/>\n\t\t\t<button role=\"tab\" class=\"c-tabs__tab\" type=\"button\">More videos<\/button>\n\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Cenovus has twice sweetened its offer for MEG to get enough shareholder support.
